HOW TO HELP
"Keep up the heat. Things are going to happen fast in the next few years. The wild horse is in trouble. But you didn't hear that from me."
~female BLM worker at a protest
Mustangs need our help! Without America's aid, the mustangs could be extinct in as little as 25 years.
Some things people can do to help are:
-Sign petitions to stop round-ups (click here).
-Adopt a mustang! You could either rescue them from a BLM auction or a rescue. A rescue would be better, but any mustang will be happy to have a home. If you are unsure about taking on a totally wild horse, check out the BLM's Mustang Makeover program. This is where trained professionals are given a certain amount of time to train a mustang. Don't be surprised to see a mustang go for a lot more money.
-Become educated about the cause and inform friends and family.
-Write a letter to your local newspaper informing the community about the wild mustang crisis.
-Buy land in mustang territory and reserve it for the wild horses and burros.
-Donate to mustang charities or organizations (check out the Cloud Foundation).
-Contact the BLM nicely (expect them to deny everything).
-Post links for sites, charities, and petitions on websites like facebook, twitter, or howrse.com.
-Write letters to your Senators, Representatives, and the President asking them (kindly) to support the mustangs.
-Post signs and fliers at grocery stores, pet shops, feed stores, ect.
