HOW KIDS AND TEENS CAN HELP
In 1971, the Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro act was passed. One of the main reasons the government was involved was because they recieved the most letters ever about a cause besides the Vietnam War. A majority of the letters were from schoolchildren who were angered by the abuse of America's icons. If anyone can save the mustangs, it's the future generation.
Ways to Help:
-Sign a petition here to help stop the round-ups.
-Convince your family to adopt a mustang. If no one is experianced enough to take on a truely wild horse, check out the BLM's extreme mustang makeover program, where professionals train mustangs and sell them later. Expect them to go for much more money.
-Donate your money to mustang charities (check out the Cloud Foundation).
-Hold a bake sale to raise money for mustangs.
-Write school essays or research papers about mustangs.
-Become more educated about mustangs and inform your friends and family.
-Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper.
-Write a paragraph about mustangs for your school paper.
-Make fliers or signs and post them in school, at a pet store, feed store, ect.
-Post petitions and info on your facebook or howrse.com profile.
-Ask your friends and family to donate to mustang charities instead of birthday/Christmas presents.
-(Politely) write to the BLM (expect them to deny everything).
-Contact your Senators, Representatives, and the President about your position of the round-ups (politely).
